Patch Management Engine (PME) v2.4.1.5153

We have released a hotfix update version of PME after yesterday’s release as per: Patch Management Engine (PME) v2.4.0.x released

Some customers reported seeing errors where PME was attempting to use a named zip file. An example is as below.

6] 2021-11-25 03:23:33,481 ERROR Exception while decompressing pmeConfiguration from password protected zip file C:\ProgramData\MspPlatform\PME\Archives\4E91ABA2-C0AC-411F-818C-F244403D3DA7.zip: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly ‘DotNetZip, Version=1.15.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=6583c7c814667745’ or one of its dependencies. The located assembly’s manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

Please note the issue was caused by a conflicting dependency, no code changes were required for a new build.

Patch Management Engine (PME) v2.4.0.x released

As announced on November 16th 2021 we are pleased to advise that pme v2.4.0 has gone live.

Passportal Performance Update 11-18-2021

N-able™ Passportal™ experienced degraded service and timeouts during a release window Wednesday, November 17 and Thursday, November 18 on our US Cluster.

  • On November 17 the N-able DevOps team identified a proxy configuration error causing increased load times and timeouts starting at 3:15 p.m. ET. Service returned to normal levels by 3:45 p.m. ET November 17.
  • Increased load times and timeouts occurred again November 18 starting at 9 a.m. ET. This issue was resolved at 9:22 a.m. ET.

Ensuring a reliable and responsive experience is top priority for our team. In recent weeks we have taken several steps to improve our performance, ensure a more reliable service and continuously improve the experience for our partners and users.

MSP Manager Performance Update

N-able™ MSP Manager™ (MSPM) has been experiencing periodic performance issues in recent months, primarily affecting our partners in our Western European cluster. Solving these problems is the absolute top priority for our team. The identified issues fall into one of two categories:

  1. MSPM becomes slow and can lead to unresponsiveness

We have identified errors resulting in database pool exhaustion that we believe can cause unresponsiveness. We have taken immediate steps to address this issue and minimize partner disruption including:

  • Improved monitoring to detect instances of the problem as quickly as possible and restart unresponsive services or nodes
  • Increased the number of nodes
  • Increased database capacity in the back end

In addition, we are currently working on updates to isolate our most frequent calls into their own microservices to help better distribute load and identify the source of the problem. We expect additional changes and improvements to be released as we progress.

2. The SLA feature is not always updating or sending notifications in a timely manner.

We have identified processing bottlenecks which we believe are the primary cause of the reported issues and are taking measures to help reduce those bottlenecks. Stay tuned for a release announcement with these changes.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work hard to solve both problems as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as they become available.

N-able Mail Assure: November Features and Updates Release
