Apache Log4j Vulnerability – Updated 12 p.m. EST, December 15, 2021

The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) has rolled out another update – version 2.17.0 – for its Java-based open-source logging library Log4j to address a third security vulnerability first discovered December 10, 2021.

In response, N-able engineers have removed the log4j package from the RMM platform.  RMM is no longer at risk from this vulnerability or any potential future log4j vulnerabilities.  Risk Intelligence has scheduled deployment of patches for 4 a.m. EST December 21, 2021.

ADVANCED NOTICE: EDR Windows and Mac Agent Updates coming Wednesday Dec 15th

We are pleased to announce that Wednesday, December 15 the Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) product will be releasing new agents for both Windows and Mac. The Windows agent will see an update to 21.7 GA (21.7.2.1038) and the Mac agent will see an update to 21.7 SP1 (21.7.4.5853). We strongly recommend upgrading these agents as soon as possible to provide the maximum level of protection available.

N-able RMM: New Windows GA Agent with a Patch Management Update – Action Required – Update

As highlighted last week, on Friday December 3rd we released a new Windows GA Agent (v10.11.10) that contains an important update to RMM’s Patch Management feature. The update resolves an issue affecting the detection of missing patches: on devices with older agents, the Patch scan may report patches are up to date when in fact patches are missing.

To help ensure all devices with Patch Management are correctly detecting and installing patches, we will start to auto-deploy the new GA Agent, v10.11.10, to affected devices. Windows servers and workstations that are online will update to the new GA agent the next time they check into RMM, while devices that are offline will receive the update the next time they come online.

We plan to roll this upgrade out over the coming days. In the meantime, partners can continue to use RMM’s standard agent update feature, by going to the Agent dropdown menu and selecting ‘Agent Auto-update Settings’ to upgrade devices.

Release Take Control Mac Agent 6.00.30 – Remote Audio

We are pleased to announce the new version of Take Control standalone Mac Agent 6.00.30.

This version supports the capture of the remote audio and playing it on the Viewer side during a session. It is possible to fully redirect the audio to the Viewer’s device or to play it both locally and at the technician’s end. In order for this functionality to work correctly, the remote Mac devices need to install a third-party, open source audio driver, which allows the forwarding of the system audio to other applications.

We strongly recommend upgrading this Agent as soon as possible to take the best from the functionality on your device.

MSP Manager Access Issues – Resolved

Update: As of 2:15 a.m. EST December, 7, 2021, access to MSP Manager has been resolved for all partners. N-able operations engineers continue to investigate the cause of this issue.

On December 6, 2021, at 11:50 a.m. EST, N-Able MSP Manager encountered an issue preventing customers from logging into MSP Manager globally.

Solving these problems is the absolute top priority for our team. N-able operations engineers quickly diagnosed the cause as a database issue and have been working diligently to resolve the issue.

By 4 p.m. EST, the issue was resolved for most customers. However, some issues remain, primarily in the eastern United States. We will continue to update you as this issue is resolved.

N-able Passportal Release Summary 12-01-2021

We have temporarily disabled the quick navigation for the recent user activity for partners on our US cluster.

You will still be able to access this information from the Dashboard → Recent user activity report.

Fixes and Improvements

This will remediate some users being unable to access areas due to “520” errors. We are currently working to solve the underlying issue – the widget will be re-enabled once resolved.

MSP Manager SLA Improvements

We are very pleased to announce some long-awaited improvements to our SLA Services. These updates resolve problems related to SLA notifications not being sent in a timely manner.

We are currently in the process of delivering the updates in each of our 4 regions in a phased roll-out. We expect all regions to be completed the updates by Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
