N-sight: Report Improvements, Standard Remote Background Manager and Windows Agent Upgrade Improvements

We are pleased to announce a few updates to N-sight in the coming days: report improvements based on partner feedback, Standard Remote Background Manager for all N-sight users, and improvements to the agent upgrade process.

Feature Policy Report – Introduction of Patch Management Column

To improve the ease of reporting on patch management policies, we have introduced a patch management column within the feature policy report, which details the policy assigned to a device.

Automated Tasks Report – Performance Improvements

Following partner feedback, the Automated Tasks Report now has the ‘run in background’ option with performance improvements, so larger sets of data can now be downloaded and reported on more quickly and easily.

When selecting ‘run in background’ the report will be processed in the background, and you will receive an email with a download link once it is ready. This means you do not have to wait for the report to complete, and you can continue working in N-sight whilst it is being generated.

Windows Agent Upgrade Improvements

As announced in this update on July 7th, N-sight: Windows Agent v10.14.4 Upgrade, we are in the process of resolving an issue related to Windows agent upgrades that has affected some devices. We are using new agent capabilities and infrastructure to improve the agent update process specifically to solve this issue.

To resolve the issue, and to ensure all eligible Windows devices (eligible = Windows 10 and Server 2016 or higher) are on the latest GA Agent, we are auto-upgrading the Windows agent to v10.14.4.  This process started at the beginning of July and is expected to complete towards the end of the month. Devices that have been online during this period will auto-update to the new Agent version, devices that have been offline will update once they come online again. This includes devices that had previously lost connectivity to the N-sight dashboard due to the aforementioned bug.

Standard Remote Background Manager for all N-sight partners

We are pleased to announce that we’ll soon make the Standard Edition (Windows) Remote Background Manager (RBM) for N-sight available to everyone. This will be available to all partners both new and existing, allowing you to choose between the classic Standard RBM experience and the current Advanced Remote Background Manager.

This will enable all partners, including those on trial accounts, to benefit from having access to the standard N-sight RBM feature.

The rollout will start shortly; depending on your account, the feature may appear immediately, or it might take a few days to become available.

Once enabled, if your devices already have Remote Background Manager activated, simply click the button to launch the Standard RBM version.
