Advance Notice: EDR Mac and Linux Agent Update

We are pleased to announce that Tuesday, April 5, the Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) product will be releasing new agents for both Mac and Linux. The Mac agent will see an update to 21.12 GA (21.12.2.6003) and the Linux agent will see an update to 21.10 SP1 (21.10.4.9). We strongly recommend upgrading these agents as soon as possible to provide the maximum level of protection available.

New and improved in Mac 21.12 GA (21.12.2.6003):

Device Control Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) rules

Support is now available for Device Control Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) rules. To enable Device Control Bluetooth Low Energy, use the Policy Override page or Sentinelctl.

Customizable Agent UI

You can now customize the Agent UI and support contact information for your users from the Management Console in a new section in Sentinels > Policy.

What else is new?

  • Enhanced Static AI Detection
  • Enhanced time-out handling of host name resolver
  • Agent security enhancements for internal scripts

Log4J Mitigation

EDR now has added protection against the remote code vulnerability CVE-2021-44228 that impacts multiple versions of the Apache Log4j2 utility. This feature is configured with a policy override and is disabled by default. The mitigator module scans new JAR files (and JAR files nested in a parent JAR) for the vulnerability.

Supported Distros Added

EDR Linux agent now supports RockyLinux 8.5, AlmaLinux 8.5 and Oracle Linux 8.5.
