Windows 11 Upgrade Via Patch Management – N-central

We are delighted to announce N-central is ready to offer Windows 11 upgrades. We plan to add the Patch on Tuesday 7th December giving you time to make changes to any auto-approval rules should you wish to do so.

What can you expect?

  • The patch name will contain “Upgrade to Windows 11” within the title
    • Note: Patch Auto Approval rules contain Keyword Functionality allowing you to specifically target this patch for auto approval, auto decline etc
  • There are 6 potential installer versions, all of which are roughly 3.6gb in size.
  • The Patch will use the “Upgrades” Classification
    • Note: If you auto approve the upgrades class and do not use any functionality to prevent it like keywords then it WILL auto approve and install. With a patch upgrade of this magnitude we would recommend you take caution here.
  • Not all of your devices will show this patch as needed at the same time. Microsoft have advised “We expect all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.” so it could be many months before some machines get offered the upgrade.
  • Not all devices will be compatible for the upgrade due to specific device requirements set by Microsoft.
