We are pleased to announce that we are deploying a major update to our Patch Management solution.

The LanGuard patch agent will now be enhanced with our very own SolarWinds patch engine.  While this engine has been a long standing offering within SolarWinds products, its integration in RMM is new, and we are looking for you to put it through its paces on test devices and report any feedback or issues.

To try out the new Patch Management engine, update your test devices to new Windows RC Agent v10.8.0.  This will automatically install the new SolarWinds patch engine and take over the scheduled patch management activities for the device.

Note that as part of this update, the “Vulnerability Scan” is updated to be called “Patch Status”, in both the Patch Management check and in the new policy settings.

Here’s a list of the operating systems supported by the new Patch Management engine:

• Microsoft Windows 7 SP1
• Microsoft Windows 8
• Microsoft Windows 8.1
• Microsoft Windows 10
• Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
• Microsoft Windows Server 2012
• Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 SP1
• Microsoft Windows Server 2016

Note that the following operating systems are NOT supported with SolarWinds Patch Management:

• Microsoft Windows XP
• Microsoft Windows Vista
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003
• Microsoft Windows Server 2008
• Microsoft Windows 10 Home

Known issues:
If upgrading from agent version 10.5.8 or older, the patch schedule may not initiate automatically.  Please upgrade to a newer agent before installing the RC agent.

Some 3rd party application currently cannot be updated, we are working on a solution to be released as a follow-up to this RC:

• Older versions (< 11.0.0) of Adobe Acrobat and Reader
• All versions of Firefox
• All versions of Flash plugins
• All versions of Java
