SolarWinds RMM: Services & Features Release with New Left Side Navigation Bar and a New Devices Filter

We’re pleased to let you know that this week’s SolarWinds RMM release introduces a brand new navigation feature, designed to help you move more easily and efficiently between key areas of the RMM dashboard.

In addition, we’re introducing a new “Last Response Over 30 Days” devices filter for the north pane, allowing you to see which devices have not checked into RMM in the last month or more. The new view can help detect devices that may be experiencing an ongoing monitoring issue, or have been offline for longer periods and may require attention. To use the new view, simply go to the north pane dropdown menu on the Servers, Workstations or Mixed tab, and select it from the list. Here’s a quick screenshot:

New Left Side Navigation Bar

The new navigation bar on the left side of the RMM dashboard marks a significant UI update that makes it a lot easier to move between several key areas of the product. Now you can quickly navigate between the Devices section, custom Device Filters, the new NetPath feature, Asset Tracking, and the Wall Chart. This is a big improvement compared to the current workflow of accessing these sections from the ‘View’ dropdown menu.

The enhanced user interface follows the latest de-facto standard for in-product navigation, and introduces a more consistent UI with other SolarWinds MSP products, as we continue to evolve our suite of MSP services. The new and modern look & feel can in turn help with your own marketing and product demos. Here are some screenshots with examples:

Here is NetPath, with the left side navigation bar expanded:

In the future, we expect to introduce more sections to the left side navigation bar as we make further improvements to the RMM user experience and workflow. We’ll release these enhancements gradually, to avoid disruptive changes to the workflow you’re currently used to. With that in mind, the existing options in the ‘View’ dropdown menu are still there, so you have time to adjust to the new navigation before we remove the redundant links from the View menu in a few weeks’ time.

We’re planning to roll the new navigation out gradually to clients over the coming days. If you have comments or questions, please let us know!
