Recently, our alerting has indicated that one of the database servers in the European server pool, did not fail over as expected when presented with an abnormally large number of connections, and temporarily caused higher load which has resulted in message deferments and delays for a period this morning (starting from 1030am BST).
This issue was quickly identified and addressed by our engineering team and mail flow has now been restored.
There may be some continued delays in mail acceptance while the backlog of mail is handled. All systems are now reverting to normal levels (12.00pm BST).
