What’s New
Keyboard Input Support for Android Remote Control: Technicians can now type text directly into the remote Android device during a session. Combined with the existing tap and swipe support, this makes it possible to complete most common support tasks without needing the end user to type on their behalf.
How to Update
- Console (1.02.76) — Technician app: Update via the Play Store as normal.
- Applet (1.02.69) — End user app: Update via the Play Store as normal.
- RC Module Addon — End user addon: The addon is not distributed through the Play Store. To update it:
- Open the Take Control Applet on the end user’s device
- Tap the three-dot menu and select Remote Control
- If the addon is already installed, it will open and prompt: “Update Available — A new version of the app is available. Do you want to download it?”
- Tap Yes
- On most devices, this installs in-place. On some devices, the previous version must be uninstalled first — which will also require re-granting Accessibility permissions
If the addon is not yet installed, tapping Remote Control will prompt to install it from scratch. Full setup instructions are available here: Take Control Android Remote Control Setup Guide
Improvements & Fixes
- Console (1.02.76): Bug fixes and stability improvements
Important Notes
- Remote control remains limited to tap, swipe, and keyboard input. Full system navigation and hardware key emulation are not supported
- Remote control must be activated each session via the three-dot menu → Remote Control
- Addon update behavior (in-place vs. reinstall) may vary by device manufacturer and Android version
