The new Unified Installation Flow in Cove Backup Manager will be generally available by the end of January 2025. Additionally, Event-based Notifications are now available for all Cove users to preview.
With Cove 25.1, the team also added exciting new restore capabilities to Cove Continuity and made several changes to improve Microsoft 365 user onboarding.
Backup Manager Unified Installation Flow
As noted above, an improved Backup Manager Unified Installation Flow will be generally available by the end of January.
This update offers:
- a simplified user experience for adding new servers and workstations,
- a new, user-friendly Backup Manager installation wizard, and
- a new “Recover Device” option in Device Properties to streamline technician workflows.
Event-based Notifications
Event-based Notifications are now available for all users to preview. This initial release includes notifications for server and workstation backups that “failed” or “completed with errors.” Event-based Notifications are sent via preconfigured emails.

Standby Image Restore OS disk only
We added the ability to control the “Restore OS disk only” setting directly from Device Properties. With this update, we turned a multiple step process into a single efficient action. Previously, partners had to remove and re-add the device to a Standby Image plan to make this change, which was time-consuming and inefficient.
If you select the “Restore OS disk only” option, we will remove the data drives after the next restore session, keeping only the system disk in your Standby Image. This helps optimize storage usage and ensures you’re backing up and restoring only what you need. Restore performance was further optimized by improving the processing of removed files from older sessions.
Additionally, we fixed the “There is not enough space on the disk” error that occurred in some cases when the disk size optimization option was enabled during restore to Azure.
Cove Microsoft 365 dashboard improvements
Cove’s Microsoft 365 management dashboard has been upgraded with a new view that boosts technician efficiency by streamlining customer onboarding and daily system monitoring.
With this update, the dashboard layout was adjusted to allow for quicker access to the full status. Dashboard filter grouping was improved, as well. Now each data source has a Backup and Restore section for easier selection. And the dashboard column selector was improved with column categories grouping.

The following columns were added to the Cove Microsoft 365 dashboard:
- Teams color bar
- Teams protected owners
- Exchange auto-add new users
- OneDrive auto-add new users
- SharePoint auto-add new sites
- Teams auto-add new Teams
And, the following columns were removed:
- Exchange protected shared mailboxes
- SharePoint protected sites
