Patch Management Engine (PME) 2.14.1 is now generally available. This release updates how PME components communicate with each other, with a focus on security and reliability. No action is required — existing probes continue to work as they do today.

Updated communication between Probe and the File Cache Service Agent

The way the Probe and the File Cache Service Agent talk to each other has been modernised, replacing older technology with a newer internal communication framework. This provides a more reliable and maintainable foundation for future improvements.

• Backwards compatibility with existing probes — PME automatically selects the correct communication method for each probe version, so older and newer probes continue to work without any configuration changes on your part.
• Improved security — unauthorised remote connections are now blocked, adding an extra layer of protection on top of the safeguards already in place.
