What’s New
Remote Control Support for Android
- This release introduces support for basic remote interaction on Android devices, allowing technicians to go beyond view-only sessions.
With the new capability, technicians can:
- Perform tap (click) actions
- Execute swipe gestures
This improves troubleshooting efficiency and reduces the need for end-user guidance during sessions.
How it Works
To enable this functionality, end users must install an additional component: Take Control Applet Remote Control (RC Module). This module:
- Is downloaded directly from within the Take Control Applet
- Requires enabling Android Accessibility permissions
- Must be activated during each session
- Full setup instructions available here: Take Control Android Remote Control Setup Guide (for different mobile brands)

Improvements & Fixes
- Connection Stability Improvements (Android 13 Devices)
Resolved an issue where:
- Sessions could connect successfully, but the Viewer displayed a black screen (“Please wait…”)
- Video feed would only appear when specific apps (e.g., camera) were active
This fix improves screen capture reliability and session consistency across supported Android devices.
Important Notes
- Remote control is limited to tap and swipe gestures only, so Full device control (keyboard, system navigation) is not supported
- Due to Android platform restrictions: Installation requires downloading an external APK and Permissions must be explicitly granted by the end user
- Some behavior may vary depending on: the Android version and Device manufacturer (OEM)
Recommendation for the best experience
- Ensure the end user completes the RC Module setup before starting the session
- Follow the setup guide linked above for step-by-step instructions
