N-sight: New Automation Cookbook Scripts, Apple GA Agent, Faster Dialogs

We are excited to introduce six new scripts in N-sight, designed to enhance security and performance monitoring of the devices you manage for your customers. These scripts can help to streamline operations and improve efficiency and service:

  • Ready-to-use monitoring – reducing the need to create custom scripts.
  • Enhanced monitoring capabilities – deliver more proactive services.
  • Strengthening security monitoring – security-focused scripts for proactive BitLocker management

The new scripts are now available to all partners. You will see them in the ‘Add Script Check’ dialogue. Better yet, we plan to add more scripts like these in the future, so stay tuned for more updates.

Here are the details of the new script checks:

Security Scripts

1.   Retrieve BitLocker Keys – This script simplifies BitLocker key retrieval, enabling MSPs to directly access TPM ID, PCR Validation Profile, Numerical Password, and Recovery Key from the dashboard.

2.   BitLocker Monitoring Plus Recovery Key Information – Track encryption status and recovery keys directly from the dashboard. This additional BitLocker script adds flexibility so that partners have the ability to use a combo of BitLocker Monitoring, Retrieve BitLocker Keys, and BitLocker Monitoring + Keys to their advantage. The script retrieves:

  • BitLocker Feature Status and Code
  • A list of drives with BitLocker turned on or off
  • System Drive Status and System Drive Recovery Key
  • Status and codes for other drives with BitLocker enabled

Key Benefits:

  • Seamless BitLocker Monitoring – No need for additional tools or manual scripting.
  • Enhanced Visibility – Easily track device encryption status.
  • Improved Compliance & Security – Simplifies security auditing and key management.

System Control Scripts

3.   Battery Health Check

Managing large fleets of remote devices presents challenges, especially in tracking battery health. This new script provides real-time insights by monitoring battery performance, helping MSPs proactively maintain hardware.

Key Benefits:

  • Early Detection of Battery Issues – Identify failing batteries before they impact productivity.
  • Reduced Downtime – Prioritize proactive hardware maintenance for devices.

4.   Installation and Uninstallation events from the past 24 Hours

Many partners have requested a way to monitor software changes against an approved application list. This script extracts install/uninstall data from system reports, offering a simple way to track software modifications without the need for manual data parsing.

Key Benefits:

  • Routine Software Monitoring – Visibility into installed and uninstalled applications.
  • Simplified Data Analysis – Reduces the need for manual report extraction and parsing.

Application Control Scripts

5.   Take Control Version and Services Status (Integrated)

This script can help partners detect and diagnose issues with Take Control. It displays:

  • The version of the Integrated Take Control Agent.
  • The status of associated services to ensure they are running correctly.

6.    Take Control Version and Services Status (Standalone)

This script provides automated health checks for the standalone Take Control Agent, helping MSPs identify and resolve issues efficiently. It reports:

  • The version of the Standalone Take Control Agent.
  • The status of associated services to confirm they are operational.

Key Benefits:

  • Faster Troubleshooting – Quickly determine if Take Control is up-to-date and functioning properly.
  • Reduced Support Time – Minimize the need for manual diagnostics when opening support cases.
  • Proactive Issue Resolution – Ensure Take Control agents are running optimally for uninterrupted

These new scripts empower MSPs with improved automation, faster troubleshooting, and enhanced device management.

Faster load times for Patch and Monitoring Templates Dialogs

We’ve made enhancements to improve the user experience when loading the Patch Management Settings dialog and the New Device Installation Settings dialogs. They are now loading considerably faster, around 4x depending on the account. We are planning on some more updates to speed dialog loading times for another few dialogs in the near future.

New Mac GA Agent

We’re pleased to confirm that the new Apple Mac Agent, v3.10.0, is now generally available (GA). It means you can use the Agent Auto-update dialog to roll the agent update out to all Apple devices. This in turn will add your Apple devices to the new Assets View, so that it now includes Windows, Linux and Mac. We recently added a new Reboot feature to this view, and we’ll be enhancing it with further updates to come
