“Reboot Now” Feature
We’re excited to introduce a new Reboot Now action on the new Assets View in N-sight, built on the robust Ecoverse architecture. The new feature brings a more advanced and flexible reboot capability, with the option to set a countdown timer and customize the reboot message for end-users, directly from the N-sight dashboard to endpoints.
For technicians who frequently reboot devices as part of their daily routines—such as addressing IT helpdesk tickets, troubleshooting, improving performance, deploying software, or installing security updates—this new functionality simplifies the process and ensures a smoother end-user experience.
Better still, the Reboot option works on Linux and Apple devices as well as Windows machines (note that Apple workbooks will soon be added to the Assets View).
The new Reboot option allows you to configure a reboot action for a single device, including a variable countdown timer of 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes and a customisable end-user dialogue. All actions related to the “Reboot Now” feature are automatically logged in the audit report.
Key Highlights of the Reboot Now Feature:
Single Device Reboot Now: Accessible from the new Assets View, this function allows technicians to trigger reboots with customizable configurations.
Reboot Configuration Dialog: Includes prompts for action confirmation and configurable messages with a message text of up to 250 characters.
Custom Countdown Timer: Technicians can set timers of 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes with a message preview option.
End-User Dialog: Displays default OS dialogues for Mac, Windows, and Linux, incorporating technician messages if provided.
Auditing: Logs all reboot actions.

We very much hope the new, end-user friendly reboot option helps technicians resolve tech issues in their day-to-day jobs. This is just the start of improving the reboot feature, next up we will be working on adding a cancel option, the ability to multi-select, as well as reboot scheduling and more – so stay tuned!
