Cove 25.3

The 25.3 release focuses on enhancements and bug fixes for the Management Console and Continuity services. Key improvements include a 60-minute reduction in recovery time for One-Time Restores and Standby Image, automated and manual reruns for failed Recovery Testing sessions, and new configuration options in the Recovery Console. Bug fixes address issues such as “Access denied” errors, VM boot blockages in ESXi, and errors during Recovery Testing sessions.

Management Console

Warning messages were updated to be clear when assigning retention to devices.  Additionally, an issue regarding the correct N-central customer display name was fixed.

Continuity

We enhanced Continuity services’ stability and resolved several customer-reported issues. Key improvements and bug fixes include:

Enhancements:

  • Faster Recovery Time: Optimized recovery process for One-Time Restores and Standby Image, reducing recovery time by up to 60 minutes in some cases.
  • Improved Recovery Testing for Failed Restores:
    1. Automatic rerun of failed sessions not related to the recovery process.
    2. Manual rerun option for failed Recovery Testing sessions.
  • New Configuration Options in Recovery Console: Support for setting VM memory and CPU configurations via config.ini.

Bug Fixes:

  • Addressed “Access denied” errors in Standby Image and Recovery Testing failures.
  • Fixed issues in the Recovery Console:
    1. Serial port prompt blocking VM boot in ESXi.
    2. Continuous Restore to ESXi blocked due to a missing vmcid file.
  • Resolved Recovery Testing Failures:
    1. “Loading operating system” error.
    2. Error #700: “Failed to initialize virtual disk file: Format failed (1).”

On-Prem agent:

With this release there was heavy focus on MacOS.  We resolved bugs with the unified installation flow and the version posting in the Cove management console.  Additionally, we decided to End Of Life the MySQL data source for MacOS.  It will no longer appear in the Cove Backup Manager.

Coming Later in March:

We are currently finalizing some notification service enhancements.  The ability to create dedicated notification rules for servers or workstations, and set up rules to be alerted when a Microsoft 365 backup completes with errors, ensuring you never miss important recovery points.
