Big year-end release: Cove 23.12

The hardworking holiday elves on Team Cove have been busy, and are proud to announce Cove Data Protection version 23.12, with a wealth of year-end goodness. This month’s new features and capabilities will be released in phases, as noted in each section. The web-based management dashboard and the local Backup Manager agent have both received some major refreshes, including additional new OS support.

Management console updates:
Cove is now available as a Progressive Web Application when using the Chrome browser on either MacOS or Windows devices. This provides an experience more like a mobile app, and makes sign-in to Cove faster and more convenient, allowing you to keep the Cove icon in your tray.

In addition, on Dec. 20, Cove users will be able to export data from the User Actions Log in CSV or XLCX formats.

Backup Manager:
A newly updated version of the local Backup Manager agent is available for download now from the download link in the product dashboard, or from this site. A global auto-update is planned for early in 2024.

This version brings improvements and bug fixes to Local SpeedVault synchronization issues, as well as performance improvements when working with the VMware data source. Specifically:

  • 5X faster backup tree expansion in the UI
  • The ability to add tagged VM snapshots
  • Other fixes and improvements

This refresh also adds:

  • Mac OS:
    • MacOS Sonoma support
    • For greater security, this version prevents the application of locally unsupported data sources from a profile
  • Linux OS:
    • Support of MySQL up to version 8.0.34
    • Improved ability to install the Backup client via proxy
