What’s New in Cove 25.11 – Azure VHD Image for Linux BMR, In-Place Archive Enters Public Preview

Listen to Matt Baylis, Product Marketing Manager for Cove, as he unveils Cove 25.11
  • Azure VHD Image Option for Linux Bare-Metal Recovery (BMR)
  • In-Place Archive Enters Public Preview
  • FIPS 140-3 Compliance for Microsoft 365 Data
  • FastTrack Onboarding for Exchange & OneDrive

With this release, Cove now provides a ready-to-use VHD image for Linux BMR. You can download it directly from the main console, upload it to Azure Blob Storage, create a Managed Disk, and boot your target VM from this disk to perform recovery without any manual conversions or extra tools.

Previously, users could only use the Cove ISO image for Linux BMR. However, booting a VM in Azure from an ISO required converting the ISO file into a VHD format, which was a complex, time-consuming, and unreliable process. This new option makes the experience much more streamlined, reliable, and consistent.

All customers with Microsoft 365 tenants added to Cove can now participate in this Public Preview.

All Microsoft 365 backup and restore operations now use FIPS 140-3 approved encryption algorithms. FIPS mode will be automatically enabled and requires no manual setup on your behalf.

Added FastTrack onboarding for Exchange and OneDrive, allowing for immediate protection without waiting for Microsoft data to load. This reduces setup time, making it especially useful when you want to protect an entire tenant quickly or when onboarding multiple customers.

In the ‘Select users’ step, click ‘All users’ to back up all licensed Exchange & OneDrive users.

This update will be rolled out gradually over the next month. FastTrack onboarding for SharePoint and Teams will be added in future releases.

Before this update, users with multiple OneDrive accounts saw only technical drive IDs in the restore tree. With this update, users will now see real OneDrive account names, making it easier to select and perform the correct restores.
